Introduction
Dear Friends,
As I drive through the inner city each morning on my way to City Union Mission, I am drawn to several real-life scenarios that have become very familiar over the years.
The group of guys in an alley, furtively exchanging goods for money ... the broken woman on the corner dressed for attention, not for warmth ... the elderly man leaning against a brick wall for support after a night of drinking ... the mother with five children walking hurriedly against the wind.
Each person has needs - some are obvious - food, a shower, shelter from the cold. The not-so-obvious needs - salvation, recovery, friends and family - are more challenging to solve.
Since 1924, City Union Mission’s staff has made it our mission to meet the needs of Kansas City’s homeless and hurting. We’ve done this with God’s guidance and the generous partnership of thousands of donors who’ve responded to the call.
