God’s Love in Action at Schools
Nearly 500 people of all ages “put their soles into helping the homeless” during the fifth annual CrossRoad 5K Walk/Run sponsored by Midland Adventist Academy. “We put this event on to give back to our city by supporting City Union Mission,” says Karen Whitson, event coordinator. “Giving to others is a great way to show thanks for all the blessings we have received.” This year’s run brought in over $11,000 to benefit the Mission and the homeless and poor in Kansas City.

Students from Shawnee Mission School District used their artistic talents to raise over $11,000 for the Mission at the second annual Empty Bowls event. Students from 34 schools across the district created ceramic bowls, which were sold during the art show, soup supper and silent celebrity auction. Special thanks to Panera Bread for donating the food, drinks and cookies for this special event!
