Annual Report

The Word

Dear Friends

Earlier this summer, I had an appointment at our Family Center. It was a sweltering hot afternoon, and as I was entered the building, I noticed one of the Mission’s volunteers on the roof, down on his knees, doing repairs.

We engaged in conversation, and my heart was so moved at the amazing commitment and dedication in this man’s heart. He was serving in a way that may never be known by others.

What motivates people to serve like that? God’s love moving in the hearts of His people.

Since 1924 when Mission founders Rev. David and Beulah Bulkley depended on volunteers to cook meals, lead chapel services and mend donated clothing, this ministry has been blessed with friends who serve willingly and faithfully because of their Christ-like compassion for people in need.

In 2006, volunteers provided 57,842 hours of service at the Mission. That’s the same as 27 staff people working 40 hours a week for an entire year. Amazing!

Our High Impact Volunteer Ministry is built on the belief that when individuals serve according to their God-given design, they will experience the highest level of meaning, fulfillment and passion in their service.
