Saved from the Streets

Donald King Jr.

On the streets: At age 14, Donald got hooked on drugs, and his all-consuming addiction caused him to drop out of school, lose jobs, turn to crime and eventually become homeless.  On the streets since 2004, he found shelter in abandoned buildings.

Rescued:  After seeing a former drug buddy whose life was changed at City Union Mission, Donald came here to get clean.  He joined the Christian Life Program and will graduate in 2006.

Bright Future: Donald plans to attend Carver Baptist Bible College this fall and become a teacher.

Quote: “The Mission is a wonderful place.  Without it, I would be dead or almost dead.  I’d still be out there, running around and using, blaming everyone else for my problems.”
