High Tech Multimedia Helps Raise Funds!
June 09, 2006
(Kansas City, MO) Sunday, June 11th, at 6am Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development, was on KFKF, 94.1FM, Randy Birch’s radio show, “Kansas City Insight”, along with business donor, Lee Greif.  The two teamed up to discuss the ever-growing needs of the poor and homeless in Kansas City, and how high tech multimedia is helping to raise funding to meet those needs.  Please click here to listen to the radio program.

Lee, like most people, was really unaware of the tremendous need of the poor and homeless in KC.  He discovered City Union Mission’s comprehensive programs do a great job in meeting those needs, but the Mission needs help from the community to deal with the increasing numbers of poor and homeless.

“The Mission is part of the fabric of the community,” said Dennis.  “People know they can come here to get a meal, some clothes, a bed or a shower.  This is a growing problem…we see a 20% increase in numbers every year.  In winter we get as many as 350 men for our men’s shelter that has a capacity for 190.  That’s a strain on the building and on the staff.  To address this we’re launching a capital campaign to build a facility to house 100 men in our long-term recovery program.  Both the community and KC businesses have always responded with generosity once they understood the need.  That’s why it’s so important to find better ways to tell the story of City Union Mission and to get it out to donors and potential donors.”   To find out more about the capital campaign, please click here.

Lee’s company responded by creating and duplicating CD’s and DVD’s of snapshot testimonials from clients who’ve experienced success having gone through City Union Mission’s programs.  The snapshots are only 3 to 4 minutes.  Churches, Synagogues, businesses, and donors can all see just how well the Mission is using the money that they’ve donated.  “And who better to tell the story of the Mission than a graduate from one of our programs.”   To listen to a snapshot click here.

“At Field Force we’ve decided it’s our mission to give back to the community a share of what we do.”  Lee’s glad to give the services he can and knows he’s one of many businesses who have come alongside City Union Mission because of the need, and because the Mission is doing a good job!  If you would like to donate to the Mission, please click here and donate now.   For more information about volunteer opportunities, please click here.
