City Union Mission Serves Homeless Thanksgiving Dinner
One Hundred Eighty Nine Homeless Men Celebrate Thanksgiving
November 22, 2006
On Tuesday, November 21, 2006 189 homeless men sat down to a Thanksgiving dinner at City Union Mission Men’s Center at 1108 E. 11th St., KCMO (10th and Troost).  The Thanksgiving dinner included mashed potatoes, vegetables, pumpkin pie and Honeysuckle White Turkey.

Honeysuckle White donated 175 turkeys to City Union Mission as part of the company’s ongoing national campaign, More to ShareTM, to feed the hungry during the holidays.

In addition, City Union Mission will distribute 200 Thanksgiving food baskets to needy families through its Community Assistance Department. The baskets include ingredients for traditional Thanksgiving dinners, including roasting pans.

City Union Mission’s CELEBRATE HOPE – Reach Out to KC’s Poor and Homeless campaign is an effort to raise $3.4 million dollars, nearly half of the Mission’s annual budget, by January 30, 2007.  The Mission is thankful for the $781,911 that has been raised thus far.  We still need to raise $2,618,089 in the next 72 days. Tax-deductible monetary donations are greatly needed and appreciated.
