Five Hundred Hands
Almost 250 General Electric Employees To Make a Difference at City Union Mission
June 08, 2005

Who: Almost 250 GE employees
What: The volunteer group will spend the day at City Union Mission’s Family Center and Men’s Center painting, installing walls and a drainage system, cleaning, making improvements to parking lots, and more.  GE is providing all necessary materials.
When: Friday, June 10, 2005 from 9 am – 3 pm (lunch from 11-noon)
Where: Projects at City Union Mission’s Family Center, 1310 Wabash, KCMO (13th and Wabash) and Men’s Center, 1108 E. 10th St, KCMO (10th and Troost); media report to Administration Building, 1100 E. 11th, KCMO.

“This is such a relief to us,” said Pat Brodnax, volunteer specialist for City Union Mission.  “They are even bringing truckloads of materials for us.  We would never get these projects done without their financial contributions and manpower.  What they are doing will help make sure our families and men are safe and secure.”

Mike Feekin, City Union Mission’s Facilities Director, is thankful for the extra help.  “It’s phenomenal for City Union Mission.  Having an extra five hundred hands to help is truly a blessing.  They will get done in one day what would take us a year on our own,” said Feekin.
