This morning, Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development, appeared on Fox News, Fox & Friends, with Steve Doocy.

Dennis said, “Tomorrow we are having our Celebration of Love:Presence of Love special event from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at our Family Center located at 1310 Wabash St., Kansas City, Mo. This is our annual community-wide drive where we collect Christmas gifts for our Presence of Love store (formerly called the Christmas Store). People in the community bring in donations of unwrapped gift items, tour the Family Center and enjoy refreshments. Over the years Kansas Citians have been very generous, especially during this time of year.”

Dennis thanked Steve and his producer, Jennifer Williams, for coming and serving the families at our Family Center. About 80 were served a chicken and rice dinner.

“Last year about 320,000 meals were served. That’s about 1000 a day for all of our facilities,” reported Dennis. Steve noted how now is the beginning of the most severe winter weather.

Dennis said, "Yesterday was the coldest day so far, and that’s when we begin to see the numbers go through the roof. Last night we had 275 men staying in our Men’s Center.  We only have 190 beds. The rest sleep on mattresses on the chapel floor.”
