Today started off with a wonderful breeze during flag raising. Several storms threatened, but they all passed around the camp. This week has sure been a great group of campers – a number of whom are excited to be learning more about the Lord. In one boy’s cabin, during “flashlight time” just before lights out, the boys spent the time looking up Bible verses and reading them to each other.
A praise: A boy who has been very homesick this week (having his big sister here hadn’t even helped) was seen today laughing and having fun with his cabin. I saw him wave to his sister just before chapel tonight with a big grin on his face.
Two of the younger girls have been getting into arguments together and creating tension within their entire cabin. One has a lot of issues with anger and aggression and the other has a very fragile spirit and is easily hurt. Today they worked together as a team to ring the camp bell announcing supper. Their counselor reported that last night’s devotions went very well and really helped unite the cabin.
Everyone ended the day with another great chapel time. The children are so attentive during both the skit and the teacher’s skit follow-up. She pointed out how we can trust Jesus and how He will take care of us, as He did with Peter when He trusted Jesus and walked on water. Everyone sang a worship song as chapel dismissed called “Teach Me Lord,” a song that asks God to teach us how to trust and obey Him. As we walked outside we saw the most brilliant, complete rainbow (actually a double rainbow) directly over the cabins.

Everyone stopped to admire this handiwork of God. It was an awesome reminder of all the promises of God.
Continue to pray for unity with the cabin having problems with two campers. Also pray for staff who are starting to wear down. Pray that they would take advantage of times of rest to have the energy they need for each day. |
