Praise God for a Father and Daughter Saved Today!
Not only were school supplies provided, but an everlasting home
July 31, 2007

“Today we had a father and daughter saved,” exclaimed Becky Grant, Community Assistance Administrator for City Union Mission.

She said:

Marlon has been coming to receive Social Security help for his daughter, Summer, probably for the last 3 years. I gave him a hard time the first year, as he was living on the streets and struggling with relationships. He insisted that he was Summer's dad and wanted to provide for her when he could. Finally, he brought Summer in to prove to me that he was telling me the truth. Now when Marlon comes, he makes a habit of telling me "Hi" and asking if I remember him.

Today was no different. Summer was with him and maybe as tall as he is. A little later I walked over to the interview room and the interviewer, Melody, introduced them to me and said that they had both prayed to receive Jesus. I again spoke to Marlon and Summer, congratulating them and praising God for their decisions. Melody was encouraging Marlon and Summer to get active in a church. Thanks for a dad who just wants to provide for his child. Because of his persistence and God's grace, not only school supplies were provided, but an everlasting home.

In just one day 32 clients came through the doors of Community Assistance. Because of generous donors and volunteers, 20 families were able to sign up to receive 61 backpacks.
