On September 19, 2007, Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development for City Union Mission, presented Cathy McGaughey of Kansas City Baptist Temple with the Barnabas Award for Exemplary Church Member Involvement at an awards’ luncheon hosted by Jack Stack Barbeque at the Freight House in Downtown Kansas CIty, Missouri.
Dennis shared how Cathy has been instrumental in rallying her church family to be servants for the poor and homeless through the ministry of City Union Mission. He said, “Among many things, she spearheaded a large Undies Sunday drive and participated in the Stuff-a-Truck drive. Cathy has also been instrumental in furthering our Capital Campaign effort among area churches. We are truly grateful.”

About the Barnabas Award
Just as Barnabas gave of his time and finances to the work of the Lord, the recipient has givenof their time and resources in order to bring their church into a greater awareness of City Union Mission and thus help support this inner city ministry. The award is given to one who has shown exemplary performance in the fulfillment of his or her duties. This person goes beyond that which is required, exercising passion on behalf of the Mission’s vision.
