Twelfth Avenue Baptist Church of Emporia, Kansas is one of the churches that has adopted a week of camp each year. This year, the church added another opportunity for their church members to participate even if they couldn't go for the entire week. The leaders organized a group to make the three hour trip from Emporia to Camp CUMCITO in order to cover the camp in prayer.

Until now you have not asked for anything in my name. Ask and you will receive, and your joy will be complete.

The initial idea came about as a result of the time that Dick and Joann Gimple spent on a missions trip to Turkey. Joann said:
Prayerwalking for those in the city of Istanbul as well as the surrounding countryside as we drove through was the highlight of our missions trip to me. We knew that even though we were very small and limited in what we individually could do for the Lord in a big situation, He can take our prayers and multiply that effect many times. As we who are on the Missions Committee talked about getting more people personally involved in missions, we thought prayerwalking would offer another opportunity.

Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.
Phillipians 4:6-7

They hoped to accomplish the following with their prayerwalk:
- First and foremost was to pray God's heart-changing power and protection over all the camp -- staff, facilities, and campers,
- To Visibly support those from their church who were serving for the entire week,
- To expose more of their church family to CUMCITO -- the facilities, the vision, the objectives -- so that more may catch "CUMCITO fever", and
- To give an opportunity for their church family to experience prayerwalking.
On Sunday, July 22nd while the Primary Camp staff was involved in training for the week, the group arrived at camp and began their prayer walk. The camp office had provided the team with details about the happenings at various locations around the camp. This included the cabins, playground, chapel, craft hall, swimming pool, dining hall, infirmary, and lake area.
