Three area General Electric businesses, GE Money, GE Transportation, and GE Energy, will combine forces to complete projects at several of City Union Mission's facilities. Between 200 and 300 employees are expected October 19th.
Mike Feekin, Facilities Director for City Union Mission, said, "We're really looking forward to them coming, and have a variety of projects that include painting, organization and outdoor landscaping. They'll be working with men who are on one of our recovery programs, RECON."
GE annually sponsors a Day of Caring, where GE businesses across the United States allow their employees time away from their work to help the communities they live in, as a way to give back. An extra bonus is how it also builds great team spirit.
Commenting on the City Union Mission project, Jeremy Williams, Quality Master Black Belt with GE Energy said:
This is an ideal project for us. It allows us to make a direct impact on a community organization we have a lot of respect for. We also have the opportunity to work side-by-side with the individuals who will benefit from what our 200 volunteers will accomplish. This has been a very eye-opening experience for me and makes me thankful that as a company we can give back to the community that we call home.
