“We were experiencing a tremendous demand for toys, particularly Hot Wheels, Tuesday evening, at our Christmas Presence of Love Christmas store. Then, at about 11 am Wednesday, Cub Scout, Jackson Schneider, brought in almost 60! These are the kinds of things we’ve come to expect God to do. God loves the poor and homeless even more than we do, and it’s truly thrilling to see how He takes care of every need,” said a jubilant Lorraine Minor, Associate Executive Director of Programs and Administration. “It’s been especially challenging this year to keep the shelves stocked for the 30 income-qualified families that come daily to “shop” in our store. So, the good news is that there are still plenty of opportunities for the community to get involved.”
Jackson’s Cub Scout Den #393 collected the Hot Wheels during the month of November. His mom, Keri, told us that they had a theme of giving. “We called it, “Little cars for the little kids at City Union Mission. The boys also collected quarters, around $60 worth through the Have a Heart for the Homeless drive. Can you imagine what it would be like if everybody did what these boys did? There are about 15 in their group. I’m so proud of them!”
