“Last year City Union Mission staff and volunteers led 368 men, women, and children to faith in Christ Jesus. That’s over one a day! I love what I do at City Union Mission,” said Dennis Chapman, Associate Executive Director of Development. “The primary mission is to share Christ. I discovered this week that our Hotline for the Homeless is also a vehicle for spreading the gospel. God is doing amazing things here!”

On a recent Thursday evening Amy Figueroa was working at City Union Mission. She is an operator for the Hotline for the Homeless. It’s a big job, but City Union Mission operators know that their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ equips them to know how to speak to the many callers needing help. On this particular Thursday evening Amy led a homeless veteran to faith in Christ.
Scott Wilson, Hotline Supervisor/Seasonal Projects Supervisor, said, “This is the second salvation we've had on the Hotline in the last 3 months, which is super exciting to me. Even on the phone, we have such an open door to share the Gospel and minister to people. Amy was blessed! We’re praying that this man gets connected to a bible believing church.”
Thousands of homeless people find shelter from the streets through the Hotline for the Homeless, a service of City Union Mission. Men, women and families call the Hotline at (816) 474-4599 to find out which Kansas City shelters can provide temporary shelter for the night. The Hotline, a free service, works with other shelters to provide accurate information 24 hours a day, handling around 19,000 calls each year.
