The men and women who graduate from City Union Mission's recovery programs have changed hearts, hope and a commitment to live in harmony with God’s plan for their lives. This commitment includes re-entering society and the workforce.
Our graduates have overcome much with God’s help. They have built the depth and breath of character which can enable them to be hardworking, skilled and trusted employees and thriving members of our community. All they need – all they ask for is a chance.
Our clients have diverse skills, talents and experiences. Each graduate has undergone academic and computer training to further enhance their workplace skills in addition to career counseling and skills assessment. Our graduates have also enhanced their workplace skills through long-term, daily work therapy.
Tom Hayes is owner of The Hayes Company, installers of quality building products. Tom says, “This is our 30th year in operation. I heard about City Union Mission around 10 years ago and grabbed onto their mission. They are reaching out to the less fortunate by meeting physical needs and tapping into hearts to meet spiritual needs.”
Sam Cook, graduate of the Christian Life program, is a recent hire at The Hayes Company. “Beth Liebling, Career Development Specialist, asked me if I would interview some of the clients. I really didn’t need anybody but that changed when Sam came in. I was impressed with his honest and respectful demeanor, and his sincere faith. He had lots of experience – way over-qualified, but was willing to do anything. I decided to give him a job.”
