State Street recently did a food drive. Employees were asked to bring in cans of food or $5. Along with cans of green beans and corn, and peanut butter, they brought in $568.60.

“For three years now State Street has partnered with City Union Mission to help care for the needs of the poor or homeless,” reported Pat Brodnax, Core Volunteer Administrator. “These are difficult days for a growing number of our city’s poor, so we are especially grateful to State Street. They came up with a really unique way to engage their employees.”
Tony Huber, Enterprise Risk Management with State Street in Kansas City, explains, “The donations, both the green beans, corn and the cash, were part of a Jeans Day Challenge. We have two buildings here, folks in building one brought in at least three cans of green beans in order to wear jeans that day. People in building two brought in corn. In place of bringing in the three cans, anyone could donate $5. The building which raised the most cans and money received a second free jeans day. Any additional donations above the minimum amount only increased the likelihood of the donor's building winning the challenge and getting the second jeans day.”
On the same day they held a fun tournament with the entry fee being a jar of peanut butter, with 64 entrants each donating a jar of peanut butter.
