Every person who passes through the doors of City Union Mission has a unique story to tell - every man, every woman, and every child. Some stories are gripping, some are interesting, and some are heartwarming, while others are heartbreaking.
We have captured several stories that may change the way you view homelessness forever. Here is your chance to take a glimpse into the lives of a few of our precious clients, volunteers, and donors. Why I am Thankful

Waylon, 24, is currently a guest on City Union Mission's Christian Life Program (a long-term recovery program for homeless men).
I thank God for giving me a life to live. My life was a lot different before I was saved. I don't even think I would still be alive. I'm thankful that I have a family who cares so much about me that they helped me get over my drug habits. I thank my mom for everything she has done for me because if it wasn't for her, I don't know where I would be. I'm thankful that I didn't wait until I was older to change because it may have been too late.
I thank God for bringing me to the Christian Life Program at City Union Mission, so I could change my life and grow to know Him better. I thank God that He sent His Son to die for me. I'm thankful that we can know Jesus Christ as Savior. I'm thankful that I am growing to know God and have a personal relationship with Him.
I'm thankful that I have a little daughter who can now look up to me. She is only 5 years old, but for the first four years I wasn't around. I was too busy doing drugs to take care of her. I thank God that He changed my heart and my way of life, so I could be the father I should be. I'm thankful that I'm not too late to be in her life.
I'm thankful for the instructors God has put over me in the Christian Life Program. They have taught me what life is all about—having a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. I'm thankful for the brothers and good friends that I have made since I've been at City Union Mission who have gone through the same things I have gone through. I'm thankful that the Christian Life Program helps people so much and gives people like me a chance to get their G.E.D. I'm thankful they've helped me realize you need to work for things in life.
I thank God that you get more than one chance to get right with Him, or I would still be lost. I'm thankful for everything because not too long ago I had nothing to live for. It brings me joy just to have anything to be thankful for this year. God bless you.
